Once again got really busy after the event and couldn't blog about it. I hate when this happens. Finally after couple of days manage to catch my breath and now it's time to write some stuff. Even though its bit old news I thought it would be good to write about it.
So, Imagine Cup 2007 Sri Lanka event took place on 18th June and it was a 6 hours long one. Six finalist teams in the Software Design category presented there solutions in front of the Judging panel. Teams took different approaches in presenting. After all six presentations are over it was all up to the judges to make the final decision. It was exciting for me because I was the first to know the results :)
Once again, University of Moratuwa - Faculty of Information Technology won the Imagine Cup Sri Lanka, all their faculty members and students were delighted about this as this is the third consecutive year. 1st runners-up were team Mathaka from Sri Lanka Institute of Information technology, and 2nd Runners-up were the team Sanhitha form University of Moratuwa - Faculty of Information Technology.
WINNER Team SARA from UOM - FIT | 1st Runner-up Team Mathaka from SLIIT | 2nd Runner-up Team Sanhitha from UOM - FIT |
On another note, Sri Lanka showed remarkable talent in the Short Film category, 3 of Sri Lankan teams made it to the 36 world wide teams in the 2nd round in Short Film, and one team ... team Tear ... made it to the 6 world wide finalists. It's truly great work guys and the short film 'little Girl' was an amazing creation. Remember that the toughest challenge is yet to come which is the 36 hours target to make a short film on site in Korea ... wish you all the best in advance :)

Last year I was supporting Microsoft to run the event, and this year it feels good and awesome to be the man who runs the show in Imagine Cup. Except for few tiny hick-ups it was a fantastic event and thanks for all the students for making it happen.
During my thanks speech at the end of the event I forgot to thank our MVPs ... sorry guys. Had a million and one things in head at that time. So ... thanks a ton(s) for all the support given in mentoring the teams.
So this time two teams from Sri Lanka are heading to Korea to compete in Imagine Cup 2007.

Yup! Apple has revamped their website ... not to oranges or bananas ... but to a cool new UI. I like it very much. I think the old UI has been there for almost a century ... I mean ever since I remember it's been there.

Just saw this article in Giz about Wireless Electricity. Yeah right! no more power packs, adaptors or chargers. woo! hoo!.
Every time I carry my laptop I carry a power pack comparatively big ass. Recently I wanted to buy this Fujitsu tablet PC which is very small. But the power pack is almost half of the size of the laptop, which makes the whole this pretty useless. Tablet was about 1.2 lb and the power pack was heavier than that. I think they have packed the rest of the weight into the power pack. Now only realized that my new backup phone Nokia 6300 is also having a power pack almost half the size of the phone. And its really funny that the blue-tooth hands free is having a charger which is couple of times bigger. Printer at home is having a power pack almost weights a kilo, its the same with the monitor. Geezz! XBox 360 power pack is in monster size. I'm almost out of power outlets for all my gadgets.
Did a bit of reading through the comments in the above article and found this link http://www.braincourse.com/wirelessa.html which is pretty interesting. Now! that explains who is this 'Mr. Tesla' in the movie The Prestige.
Anyways, I think when Wireless Electricity becomes a wide spread reality that's the day when we can truly enjoy the TRUE wireless freedom.
