Making personal cloud storage for Windows available anywhere, with the new SkyDrive

by Wela on 24 April 2012 19:45

From Steven Sinofsky’s blog http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/04/23/the-next-chapter-for-skydrive-personal-cloud-storage-for-windows-available-anywhere.aspx

Over the last year we’ve been hard at work building SkyDrive alongside Windows 8, setting out a unique approach to designing personal cloud storage for billions of people by bringing together the best aspects of file, app, and device clouds. Meanwhile, we’ve made our file cloud more accessible with HTML5 and mobile apps, improved integration with Office and 3rd party apps, and built a device cloud for Windows and Windows Phone.

Today, we’re excited to take another big step towards our vision by making SkyDrive far more powerful. There are new storage options, apps that connect your devices to SkyDrive, and a more powerful device cloud that lets you “fetch” any file from a Windows PC. Taken together with access from popular mobile phones and a browser, you can now take your SkyDrive with you anywhere, connect it to any app that works with files and folders, and get all the storage you need—making SkyDrive the most powerful personal cloud storage service available.

Top spammers in Sri Lanka

by Wela on 24 April 2012 19:30

Most of them don't have a clue of the correct method of collecting email and sending email, have no sense of a privacy policy. They just SPAM. Surprisingly most of them know that SPAMMING is wrong in illegal, but still continues to do it. Sometimes like idiots argue that when an unsubscribe option is there it makes things legal. WTF! in some cases their unsubscribe options ...don't work.

Facebooked!

by Wela on 19 April 2012 17:22

Last week during the New Year holidays I just spent a day to metrofy my blog UI. During the same time did another major update by integrating Facebook comments into the site. Just thought of doing it and did it. So no more Blog Engine Comments. It's all FB comments. Going to test this for couple of days and see. If it doesnt work properly i'll probably switch back.

Metrofied!

by Wela on 13 April 2012 10:38

Early morning just thought of doing a new UI for my blog ... and didnt want to spend anything more than today for this. Didnt think twice on what kind of a UI I want to create this time. Well! didnt had to think twice ... the hotest new UI format in town is the Metro and naturally I had decided to go for a Metro look.

Few things here and there to be optimized, but overall its almost complete.

Started at 6.00 AM and by 8.00 PM i'm done and the result is quite stunning!

Hunger Games … WTF!

by Wela on 11 April 2012 22:54

Day before yesterday couple of us went to watch Hunger Games. We had very high expectations when we decided to go because of the off the roof ratings this movie has. I mean the movie grossed 150 million USD in the opening weekend and that is twice as much what Avatar made. Also way more than what most great movies have made on the opening weekend. Anyways after watching almost all of us had one thing in mind … WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK. Smile. Everybody felt the same … its utter crap. What I don’t understand is that this movie has already made over 365 mil and seems like its going to pass the half bil within the next few days.

This explains only one thing to me. The world is filled with Psychos who want to see people killing each other. WTF!

Say NO to Advertisements in movies …

by Wela on 2 April 2012 03:32

Saturday went to watch Kusa Paba at Savoy. The show time was 7.00PM. But they actually started at 7.25. what the hell happened during that 25 minutes … F#&%&#g advertisements. Well! 2-3 movie trailers and the rest of the time ads. Also after the intermission another 15 minutes on ads. It was so annoying. We are paying and getting a ticket and these idiots are showing us ads. I got really pissed and complained the manager. His simple answer was ‘Cant maintain these theaters otherwise’ … now! what kind of a messed up answer is that.

No wonder people don’t go to watch Sinhala movies much … which explains why the local show business is in such a crap stage. I will never go to see a movie in a EAP theater until they stop this nonsense.

P.S. After renovating the theater and building the new theaters Majestic Cinemas have stopped playing ads. Thanks!
